Record-Breaking Dazcat Fleet Gears Up for Rolex Fastnet Race 2025

Ten of the 22 multihulls currently entered in the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race MOCRA class hail from the Multihull Centre in Cornwall, including an unprecedented eight Dazcats - performance cruiser-racers designed and built in the UK. This marks the largest Dazcat entry in the history of the race and positions the Cornish builder at the very heart of this year’s centenary Fastnet edition.

The Fastnet is one of the most respected and demanding offshore races in the world, and 2025 marks both its 100th anniversary and 25 years of Dazcat participation. Since their first entry in 1999, Dazcats have become regular podium finishers and are now a cornerstone of the UK’s modern multihull racing scene.

“To have over a third of the MOCRA fleet built in our small corner of Cornwall is a huge point of pride,” says Simon Baker, Director at the Multihull Centre. “We love going fast - but we never forget that offshore success is built on good seamanship, preparation, and safety. That’s the Dazcat philosophy.”

Meet the 2025 Dazcat Fleet

Dazzle (Dazcat 12m)
The oldest Dazcat in the race and a veteran of many Fastnets, Dazzle returns under new owner Dominic, who has recently overseen a major refit. Lighter, stronger, and race-ready, this iconic multihull remains one to watch out for, originally built for the Fastnet veteran, Mike Butterfield.

Easy Tiger (D995R)
Making her Fastnet debut, Easy Tiger may be the smallest Dazcat in the fleet, but she has serious offshore pedigree, including the doublehanded Round Britain & Ireland and Round Ireland races. Launched in 2007 and converted in 2014, she represents the agile end of the Dazcat spectrum.

Bare Necessities (Dazcat 1150)
Formerly Drama Queen, this 2009-launched cat is no stranger to the Fastnet. With a class win in 2011 and victories in the Round Ireland (2024) and AZAB (2023), she returns with a seasoned four-person crew - up from her usual two-handed configuration.

Sueños (Dazcat 1195)
Built in 2010, Sueños blends comfort and competition, right down to the onboard washing machine. Helmed by MOCRA Commodore Rupert, one of the fleet’s most experienced multihull sailors, she’ll be racing with a tight-knit crew of former co-skippers.

Hissy Fit (Dazcat 1495)
The sleek Hissy Fit exploded onto the Fastnet scene in 2015, winning her class as best rated under 50ft multihull in 2017. Skippered by Director Simon Baker, this high-performance, comfortable cruising platform has since become a fixture at top multihull events including Round Britain & Ireland, Round Ireland, and the MOCRA Nationals.

Slinky Malinki (Dazcat 1295)
A 2017 launch, Slinky Malinki has seen consistent RORC action with two different owners. In 2021, she secured the RORC Season Points Championship for under-50ft multihulls and continues to campaign hard under her new owner this season.

Foxy (Dazcat 1295)
Launched in 2022, Foxy was intended as a family cruiser - but quickly gave in to the call of competition. She’ll be racing Fastnet 2025 as a true family team, combining cruising comfort with competitive flair.

Minor Swing (Dazcat 1295)
The newest Dazcat in the fleet, Minor Swing (2023) wasted no time making her mark - winning the 2024 RORC Season Points Championship for under-50ft multihulls. She returns in 2025 to defend her record, with Slinky Malinki close behind and rivalling her every step of the way.
